Exciting Freelance Opportunity with a Leading Insurance Partner in Belgium!

We are looking for an experienced .NET Developer to join an enterprise transformation programme for a large insurance group based in Brussels. This is a great opportunity to work on complex system integrations and modern application architecture within a mature, Agile delivery environment.

You'll be contributing to the refactoring and evolution of policy and claims systems, with exposure to actuarial data, underwriting processes, and partner API integrations.

Logistics:

• Position: Freelance .NET Developer
• Duration: 12-Month Contract (strong likelihood of extension)
• Location: Brussels (Hybrid – 2 days per week on-site)
• Languages: English AND French OR Dutch
• Start Date: ASAP
• Day Rate: €(Negotiable & Competitive)

Core Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain backend services using .NET Core / C# in a microservices environment
• Support integration of third-party tools and APIs related to claims, policy management, and customer data
• Collaborate with functional analysts to translate business rules (insurance-specific) into scalable solutions
• Implement unit, integration, and API tests to ensure system quality
• Contribute to technical design sessions, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards
• Participate in Agile delivery processes: sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives
• Ensure compliance with data protection standards and internal governance policies

Essential Skills:

• 5+ years of experience in .NET (C#) development within enterprise environments
• Solid understanding of REST APIs, SQL Server, and architectural patterns (CQRS, DDD)
• Experience working with Agile delivery teams and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps)
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with both technical and functional stakeholders
• Background in insurance, ideally in claims, policy, or underwriting domains

Desirable Skills:

• Familiarity with Angular or other front-end frameworks
• Experience with message queues (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka)
• Knowledge of test automation frameworks (.NET test, xUnit, Selenium)
• Understanding of actuarial or pricing systems
• Cloud knowledge (Azure preferred)
