Your Mission

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Technical Architect to join our BI architecture team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, deployment, configuration and overall technical management of Microsoft Power BI Service in Azure. Additionally, ensuring seamless integration between Azure cloud services like Power BI and Fabric, and on-premises data sources.

The services you help to build will be consumed by internal customers to host a diverse range of information systems.

Responsibilitites

• Design and Update:
• Technical Solution Design and Architecture: Design and architect scalable, secure, and efficient technical solutions for Microsoft Azure Power BI Service implementations, ensuring alignment with common large enterprise standards, organisational goals and best practices.
• Technical Governance of Azure Tenant and Workspaces: Oversee and manage the technical governance of the Microsoft Azure tenant, including Power BI workspaces, to ensure compliance, security, and optimal performance.
• Technical Integration with Corporate Services: Integrate Power BI Service with other corporate services such as monitoring (Dynatrace), log correlation (Splunk), Configuration Management Database (CMDB), and ServiceNow to ensure cohesive operations.
• Testing and Coordination for Power BI Desktop releases: Test the latest releases of Microsoft Power BI Desktop and coordinate with the team in charge of its virtualisation and distribution.
• Develop technical architecture and design service delivery pipelines, including inventory, and monitoring.
• Handle technical continuous improvement of Microsoft Power BI Service, incorporating new versions and functionalities.
• Contribute to the Integration of Microsoft Power BI Service with Microsoft On- Premises Data Gateway cluster.
• Ensure that service documentation is regularly updated and accurately reflects system configurations.
• Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for architecture, configurations, and processes.
• Apply DevOps methodology and contribute to the automation design and configuration around Power BI Service.
  

Your Profile

• Advisory Role:
• Provide expert advice on design and propose improvements to enhance service efficiency.
• Collaborate with developers and business analysts to support data integration scenarios using Power BI, PowerApps, and Azure Logic Apps.
• Optimise data source queries for better performance when accessed via the gateway.
• Train team members and stakeholders on gateway usage and troubleshooting techniques.
• Quality Assurance:
• Qualify new versions and patches through rigorous functional testing, performance testing, and security assessments.
• Work to improve operational efficiency by implementing automation and clear procedures for operational colleagues.
• Administration:
• Technical supervision on the deployment and configuration of Microsoft Power BI Service by the operations team and ensure its alignment with regular enterprise quality standards.
• Technical supervision on creation and configuration of new Power BI Workspaces based on organisational requirements. Set up workspaces with appropriate roles (Admin, Member, Contributor, Viewer).
• Ensure proper secured connectivity between Power BI Service and on-premises data sources (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, etc.).
• Monitor the health and performance of the Power BI Service.
• Ensure the security, reliability, and performance of cloud-based applications and services.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cloud infrastructure and data gateways.
• Creating and managing connections to various data sources (e.g., SQL Server, SharePoint, Oracle).
  

Scripting

Utilise scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python for various tasks and automation.
