Backend engineer -- Early-Stage Social Media App

About:

We're building Calibur, a brand new social media digital app.

We’re in the early MVP stages and we’re looking for a Backend Developer to help us bring the core features of the platform to life.

What you'll do:

• Set up and manage our backend stack using Supabase (PostgreSQL, Auth, Storage, Edge Functions)
• Design and structure a clean, scalable database schema
• Implement auth, profiles, media posts, likes, and comments logic
• Collaborate with frontend + design team to support app flows
• Build custom backend logic using Edge Functions (Node.js/TypeScript)
• Help ensure data access is secure using Row-Level Security (RLS) policies

You're a good fit if you:

• Have hands-on experience with Supabase or PostgreSQL (or are ready to learn fast)
• Understand backend structure, schema design, and auth flows
• Are comfortable working async and independently
• Communicate clearly and enjoy solving product problems, not just technical ones
• Are open to signing a standard NDA before diving deeper into the project (MUST)
• Able to start immediately!

Important note:

Because we’re in the very early stages of development, this is currently an unpaid position. That said, you’ll have real ownership, creative input, and the potential to join the founding team as things grow (including equity opportunity).
