This position is part of AbbVie’s Information Security & Risk Management (ISRM) team. We are here to put our partners in a position to succeed. We do it by providing the knowledge, tools, and support they need to effectively use data and technology while also effectively managing risk.
This role is a hybrid of technical and strategy-based skills where the ideal candidate will have a technical background that will allow them to oversee and assist with day-to-day cyber security operations work, as well as a mindset that will help create a main regional pillar supporting our global cyber security operations team.
The ideal candidate will be a technical subject matter expert in the realm of incident response and digital forensics, with a background in building and managing a team of cyber security operations responders. Experience with application security, vulnerability management, threat detection and insider risk investigations are also desired.
In addition, this role requires someone who is capable of building and leading proactive efforts within the JAPAC region, such as tabletop exercises.

Make your mark:
- Providing leadership, direction, and oversight of analysts of the Cyber Security Operations center within Germany to ensure high quality services are delivered
- Acting as an escalation point for cyber security incidents at AbbVie
- Executing response plans and coordinating activity as Incident Commander during major and critical cyber security incidents
- Performing quality assurance testing against the work of cyber security operations analysts
- Conducting after action plans and related education stemming from quality assurance and other incident review
- Provide global ISRM leadership insights into regional incident trends and capacity planning
- Assisting with the development and execution of cyber-related tabletop exercises for regional business partners
- Identifying process improvement opportunities and developing subsequent plans of action to resolve gaps
- Preparing formal executive summary reports on incident findings for presentation to senior leadership
- Preparing and presenting cyber security briefings on the topics of trends, metrics and capabilities to regional affiliate partners as needed
- Acting as a first responder for major and critical cyber security incidents during normal business/off-hours and on-call
- Assist and advise regional teams as necessary on escalated vulnerabilities/exposures that require swift response as well as escalated insider risk and DLP investigations
- Assist the global Insider Risk Management team on remediation efforts that need to occur within the region
- Escalate regional cyber security issues to the appropriate global teams as appropriate
- Acting as central subject matter expert on the various services provided by the Cyber Security Operations team
- Assist with performing forensics collections in region when necessary
- Lead initiatives to drive cyber security awareness and education
This is how you make a difference:
- Education & Experience - Minimum of one of the following: Minimum of 10 years of IT experience with 8 years in a specialized information security role
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related technical field and 8 years of IT experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related technical field and 7 years of specialized information security experience
- Master’s Degree in computer science or related technical field and 6 years of specialized information security experience
- Equivalent qualification (e.g. completed apprenticeship with an IT focus) with several years of relevant experience
- Expert level understanding of incident response terminology and methodologies
- Advanced level understanding of forensic artifacts and their significance within a cyber security investigation context
- Advanced level understanding of multiple technologies and systems that support CSOC and CSIRT services (e.g. SOAR, SIEM, IPS/IDS, EDR, etc.) as well as vulnerabilities and how they are exploited
- Ability to manage a team in an at-times high pressure environment, delegate tasks and perform follow-up education, as required
- Willingness to be available, as needed, for major and critical incident response activities
- Capable of learning new concepts and processes quickly, and adapting to a constantly changing environment
- Ability to analyze and understand technical information as well as articulately communicate technical findings to less-technical members of the business
- Proficient language skills in Englisch and German
