Software Team Lead

Friday Energy
Netherlands · Part-time · Mid-Senior

Friday Energy supplies smart solutions for energy storage and load management. We use data from energy markets, weather predictions, and local energy demand to operate energy storage systems and other energy assets for commercial & industrial applications. By doing this, we help the transition to clean energy. We provide entrepreneurs with solutions to their practical energy problems, helping them save or even earn money while doing so. Therefore, more renewable energy gets on the grid with minimal infrastructure upgrades.

What will you do

Software plays a key role within Friday Energy, and we are currently expanding the team. As a Software Team Lead in the company, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Maintain and continuously improve the software development roadmap, technology, and vision in a fast-growing market
  • Mentor and develop a small, high-performing software development team, and contribute to its growth by recruiting and onboarding new members
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate high-level requirements into technical specifications and development milestones
  • Drive continuous improvement in software development practices (including planning, support, and infrastructure) initiatives based on team feedback and industry best practices
  • Contribute to the development of our backend software platform
  • Help us further optimize existing decision algorithms for renewable energy assets

In doing so, you are making a real impact in accelerating the energy transition.

What do you bring

We are looking for an experienced software lead with a strong technical background, ideally within a company in the scale-up phase.

  • 5+ years of experience in backend software development (Python or Golang), ideally in a team lead role
  • Solid knowledge of the software development lifecycle, including CI/CD and support
  • Previous experience in a technical role within the renewable energy sector is a big plus
  • Good communication skills and the ability to convey technical topics to a non-technical audience (mainly commercial and marketing colleagues)
  • Autonomy, proactivity, and teamwork are essential for succeeding in this role

What do we offer

  • Hybrid working (2-3 days at the office per week)
  • 20 days of paid holiday
  • Participation in the company's success via a stock program
  • Competitive salary depending on experience
  • Collaboration with Utrecht University for innovation projects
  • Informal working environment with freedom and autonomy
