Fullstack Software Developer (Distributed Systems / Low-Level Programming)

We are looking for a talented Fullstack Software Developer with a strong foundation in distributed systems and low-level programming to join our team on an initial 12-month contract, with the possibility of extension based on individual performance and business requirements.

Team & Platform:

This team is responsible for a high-performance platform used by hundreds of developers across to rapidly build scalable financial applications using Scala. A significant component of this platform involves the automatic generation of web applications from Scala constructs. Our responsibilities span both the front-end and back-end development, including deployment to a private cloud environment.

Technology Stack:

• Frontend: React, Electron
• Backend: Scala (primary), Jetty, Akka
• DevOps & Cloud: Kubernetes, private cloud infrastructure
• Tools: IntelliJ, Git, Stash, Jira
• Methodology: Agile/Kanban (daily stand-ups, weekly planning, no sprints)
• Our platform is increasingly being open-sourced.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain full-stack applications.
• Write clean, testable, and efficient code.
• Ensure the reliability and performance of deployed software.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and specifications.
• Incorporate user feedback into product iterations.
• Adhere to SDLC and industry best practices.

Key Requirements:

• Proficiency in Scala, Java, TypeScript, or other modern programming languages.
• Hands-on experience developing web applications with frameworks such as React or Angular.
• Solid understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Familiarity with test-driven development (TDD).
• Skilled in debugging and using development tools.
• Strong documentation and communication skills.
