€300-350 per day
Role summary
Own daily cloud-native operations, application management and support for all services on AWS. You will build and operate EKS-based Kubernetes platforms, manage traffic with Istio, automate pipelines through Argo Workflows, and maintain observability using Prometheus, Grafana and Loki—while performing the incident, change and capacity-management duties outlined below.
Responsibilities
- Platform engineering & automation
- Configure, install, maintain and upgrade AWS/EKS clusters, Kubernetes add-ons and related infrastructure-as-code.
- Build and enhance golden AMIs and container base images; enforce CIS benchmarks and pod-security policies.
- Implement GitOps/CI-CD workflows with Argo Workflows and Argo CD, including canary, blue/green and rollback logic.
- Design and manage Istio service-mesh configurations for ingress, mTLS, traffic shifting, fault injection and rate-limiting.
Operations & reliability
- Provide application and infrastructure support; monitor cluster health, autoscaling and workload performance.
- Administer OS and container-runtime security; keep AMIs, container images and Kubernetes versions current.
- Execute recovery procedures, backups and disaster-recovery drills; restore systems when incidents occur.
- Manage incidents for internal and external customers, drive root-cause analysis and continuous-improvement actions.
Observability & capacity management
- Deploy and tune the Prometheus + Grafana + Loki stack; create SLO dashboards, alerts and log/metric correlation views.
- Track capacity trends and recommend scaling strategies and cost-optimisation measures across AWS compute and storage.
Problem management & support
- Act as second-line escalation for complex issues; design interim and long-term solutions and update runbooks.
- Provide performant, secure server solutions for internal and external stakeholders.
Documentation & knowledge sharing
- Maintain operational documentation, IaC repositories, procedures and knowledge-base articles.
- Mentor colleagues with less Kubernetes/cloud experience.
Experience, certifications & technical requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Professional background – 6 – 8 years in technical operations, system administration or DevOps/SRE roles, with hands-on production experience running AWS workloads and EKS (or upstream Kubernetes).
- Cloud & Kubernetes engineering – Expertise in AWS services (IAM, VPC, EC2, EBS, ALB/NLB), EKS lifecycle management, Helm/Kustomize, and container registries.
- Service mesh – Practical experience configuring and operating Istio for traffic management, security and observability.
- Automation / IaC – Proficiency with Terraform, AWS CDK or CloudFormation; GitOps practices using Argo Workflows/Argo CD.
- Observability – Strong skills in Prometheus query design, Grafana dashboarding, Loki log pipelines and Alertmanager routing.
- Troubleshooting & support – Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues, design preventive measures and improve incident response.
- Certifications (preferred) – AWS Certified Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer, Certified Kubernetes Administrator/Developer (CKA/CKAD), ITIL Foundation or equivalent.
