The Opportunity

This role is for a Junior Data Scientist (1-4 years of experience) who leverages data to support business decisions by developing models, applications, and insights. You’ll contribute to projects, collaborate with teams, and grow your data science expertise under senior guidance while staying updated on emerging trends.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing and building data solutions to address business challenges.
  • Support the development and implementation of AI and machine learning models for predictive analytics, classification, or other applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify data-driven opportunities.
  • Learn from and support senior data scientists, ensuring data quality and integrity.
  • Communicate findings effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Stay informed about data science trends, such as ethical AI, and apply them to improve outcomes.


Required Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g. statistics, computer science, mathematics, or related).
  • 1-4 years of data science or related experience, with demonstrated project contributions.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, & SQL for data analysis and modelling.
  • Good knowledge of AI, machine learning, and statistical methods.
  • Familiarity with data visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib).
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure) or big data tools (e.g. Hadoop, Spark) is a plus.


Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Technical Skills: Exposure to deep learning frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch) or basic natural language processing (NLP) techniques.
  • MLOps Basics: Familiarity with MLOps concepts, such as model deployment or data pipeline automation.
  • Explainable AI: Awareness of explainable AI principles to support model transparency.
  • Domain Knowledge: Interest in or exposure to a specific industry (e.g. finance, healthcare, retail) to apply data science contextually.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g. Coursera, edX, or equivalent) to demonstrate commitment to data science.
  • Curiosity and Initiative: A proactive approach to learning and exploring new data science tools and techniques.
