The Role

The AMD Game Engine team works to fully leverage the technical capabilities of AMD's hardware and software products in Unreal Engine 5. You will be a member of a core team of incredibly talented specialists, with the shared goal of raising industry standards for real-time graphical fidelity and performance. Your work will engage the cutting edge of modern hardware and software technologies. 

The Person

The ideal candidate is a highly skilled software designer and engineer, strong in 3D math, fluent in C++, and captivated by the efficient use of discrete GPUs, APUs, and CPUs. You are team-driven and motivated to find solutions to problems that others might find too difficult. You can communicate effectively and work optimally with different teams across AMD.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a high-functioning feature team, integrating cutting-edge features into UE5
  • Scope, plan, build, and validate comprehensive technical solutions for new features, initiatives, and product introductions
  • Diagnose complex bugs and other deficiencies in large code bases
  • Deliver key planning solutions and the technology to support them
  • Drive results through collaboration across multiple development teams


Preferred Experience

  • 6+ years of experience in game development or other practical applications of real-time graphics
  • Expert knowledge and hands-on experience in C++
  • Expert knowledge of DirectX 12 and HLSL
  • Significant experience profiling and optimizing real-time graphics performance, including shader code
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills, especially involving low-level graphics problems
  • Strong interpersonal and English communication skills
  • Unreal Engine experience preferred but not required
  • Real-time ray tracing experience preferred but not required 


Academic Credentials

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline
