SRE / DevOps Engineer

We are looking for a Freelance IT Ops / SRE / DevOps Engineer with strong Java and infrastructure experience to support a major cloud transformation within a leading financial services environment.

Logistics:

• Position: Freelance SRE / DevOps Engineer (Java & Infrastructure Focus)
• Duration: ASAP Start – Minimum 6 months
• Location: Brussels (Hybrid—2 days a week)
• Day Rate: €(Negotiable & Competitive)
• Interview Stages: 2 (Streamlined Process)
• Languages: English AND French OR Dutch

Key Responsibilities:

• Support legacy Java application deployments and ensure infrastructure stability
• Update and maintain Ansible-based configuration management
• Liaise with both IT Operations and Engineering squads to streamline support
• Provide guidance and escalation for ticketing, monitoring, and incident handling
• Act as a key player in a cloud migration initiative, moving platforms to Paris
• Work with cross-functional squads to improve tooling, workflow setup, and reliability
• Support new efforts in the prediction/data domain through IT and application enablement

Must-Have Experience:

• Solid background in Java, Spring Boot, and Ansible
• Experience working with on-prem and cloud-hybrid systems
• Demonstrated history in SRE, DevOps, or Application Support roles
• Strong interpersonal skills—able to liaise across technical and business teams
• Comfortable with hands-on troubleshooting, deployments, and workflow setup
• Able to operate in both Dutch - and French - speaking environments

Additional Experience:

• Experience working in the banking or financial sector
• Familiarity with cloud migrations or infrastructure modernisation projects
• Knowledge of Agile environments and collaborative team structures
