In this dynamic environment, where casual gamers have numerous platforms to choose from, CoolGames is at the forefront, publishing high-quality HTML5 games that are enjoyed by millions every month. We're expanding our portfolio and have an ambitious roadmap filled with exciting new game projects.

To achieve our goals, we're looking for a passionate 2D Game Artist to join our team and help shape the future of casual gaming with engaging and commercially successful new game IPs.

About CoolGames

Founded in 2010, CoolGames is a leading HTML5-specialized studio developing high-quality casual games. We successfully publish our titles via many new ‘Big Tech' game platforms beyond the traditional app-stores: players can now instantly start a game from for example Facebook, Discord, YouTube or Netflix. At the same time, there are still millions of people playing our games via traditional gaming websites and media channels each year.

For our games, we often work with famous IP and global brands (for example Monopoly, Battleship, Angry Birds, Tetris) but also created fully in-house developed titles that became #1 hits on various platforms. We have an ambitious roadmap to start the development of several new game projects in the next months to further expand our portfolio.

About You

At CoolGames a medior/senior 2D game artist creates high quality assets in a variety of visual styles for our games. You like, and are comfortable with, working on many different elements during the game development process from start to finish. Your passion is creating vibrant artwork and animations, and you understand its value in helping our players feel immersed in our games. You are highly creative and motivated to push the boundaries of HTML5 gaming. You love a challenge and are open to exploring and learning new tools and the latest technologies.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Creating unique high quality 2D assets that are ready to be used in-game;
• Designing all UI/UX elements, including icons, menu screens, buttons, animations and more;
• Making promotional materials, such as banners, splash screens, logos and icon designs;
• Working with the team to deliver on sprint commitments, as well as continuing to improve the quality of art and the processes in the art department
  
  
  

Role Based Skills

• Your focus is on colorful and stylised artwork;
• You're comfortable working in multiple styles, and you know how to work with established guidelines;
• You love rendering, whether it's game assets, illustrations or UI, and are able to do so in a variety of styles;
• Your portfolio reflects a proficient knowledge of basic art principles such as composition, color, light, anatomy and design;
• You have affinity for creating promotional materials, and love to create artwork that attracts players to our games;
• You work well in multidisciplinary game development teams;
• You show a "can do" mentality and are not easily blown away by a dynamic work environment;
• You work in an organized manner and keep a neat file and folder structure
  
  
  

Requirements


The ideal candidate meets the following criteria:

• You have at least 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar position;
• You have excellent knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Spine (After Effects and Blender are a plus);
• You are familiar with AI generated art and are open to explore it's possibilities as a tool in a production pipeline. Demonstrable experience is a plus;
• You are able to communicate in fluent English, verbally and in writing;
• You are able to work 40 hours per week (of which, at minimum currently, 2 days per week at our studio in Amsterdam);
• You can share an online portfolio that showcases your best work
