Test Automation Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Test Automation Engineer to join our Banking client’s Digital Transformation Program in Brussels.

Logistics:

• Position: Freelance Senior Test Automation Engineer
• Duration: 12-month rolling contract (strong likelihood of a 2-3 year extension)
• Location: Brussels (Hybrid – 2 days onsite per week)
• Day Rate: €(Negotiable & Competitive)
• Interview Stages: 2 (Rapid feedback within 24 hours per stage)
• Languages: English & French OR Dutch

Key Responsibilities:

• Test Strategy & Design: Develop, document, and execute detailed test plans for digital banking applications.
• Automation Leadership: Build and maintain robust test automation frameworks across web and mobile platforms.
• Compliance Assurance: Validate that systems align with banking regulations (PSD2, AML, GDPR).
• Technology Advisory: Evaluate and implement the best tools and practices for efficient quality assurance.
• Team Collaboration: Partner with development, product, and operations teams to deliver high-quality software releases.

Must-Have Previous Experience:

• Strong Test Automation experience (JavaScript or Kotlin)
• API Testing (Karate, SoapUI, or Postman)
• SQL for database validation and backend testing
• ISTQB Certified
• Proven experience in banking/financial services projects
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks (PSD2, GDPR, SOX)

Nice-to-Have:

• Cypress or Playwright experience for UI automation
• Understanding of Kafka or other event-driven architectures
• Knowledge of legacy core banking systems (Temenos, Avaloq, etc.)
