Data Scientist

Background :

• We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist with strong Operations Research (OR) optimization skills to join our new product team developing a retail stock movement planning solution.
• This role will focus on creating optimization algorithms for efficient store-to-store inventory transfer between large-format stores and smaller retail locations.

Key Responsibilities :

• Design and implement optimization models for retail inventory allocation and transfer.
• Develop algorithms for planning and scheduling of stock movements.
• Collaborate with engineers to integrate optimization solutions into the product architecture.
• Analyze large datasets to identify patterns and improvement opportunities in stock movement
• Create and maintain documentation for optimization models and methodologies.
• Provide technical guidance on optimization approaches and mathematical modeling.
• This role will join a cross-functional team including senior and junior software engineers and an ML specialist. The position will closely collaborate with the Engineering Manager and Data & Analytics leadership.

Requirements :

• Master's degree or PhD in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field
• 3+ years of experience applying optimization techniques to supply chain or retail problems
• Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into mathematical models
• Strong knowledge of linear programming, integer programming, and constraint satisfaction
• Proficiency in Python and optimization libraries (e.g., CPLEX, Gurobi, OR-Tools)
• Experience with data manipulation and analysis using SQL and Python

Preferred Qualifications :

• Experience in retail or supply chain management.
• Knowledge of machine learning techniques and their application to optimization problems.
• Background in developing production-grade optimization systems.
• Familiarity with cloud-based deployment of optimization solutions.
