Job Purpose:

This role is responsible for designing and enhancing GPSSA’s digital channels and front-end systems to create effective, user-friendly environments that meet strategic business objectives. This role involves translating requirements into intuitive and seamless digital experiences that prioritize user satisfaction. This role collaborates closely with other members to ensure a cohesive and high-quality systems design. By leveraging industry best practices and innovative design principles, this role plays an important role in advancing GPSSA’s digital transformation efforts.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities

System Design and Development

  • Leads the design and development of user-centered digital channels, including web, mobile applications, and responsive platforms, ensuring they meet both functional and non-functional requirements such as performance, scalability, and security in a fast-evolving digital ecosystem.
  • Designs intuitive, mobile-first solutions, ensuring seamless user interfaces (UI) and user experiences (UX) that work across multiple platforms and devices, including iOS, Android, and responsive web.
  • Collaborates with Business Analysts and Digital CX Specialists to translate customer requirements into detailed system specifications, wireframes, and prototypes, ensuring that design decisions align with GPSSA’s digital strategy and user needs.
  • Implements modern web and mobile frameworks (e.g., React, React Native) to ensure high-performance digital solutions that are scalable, maintainable, and optimized for both desktop and mobile experiences.
  • Ensures the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs, focusing on developing systems that prioritize responsive design, cross-platform compatibility, and mobile accessibility.

Integration and Compatibility

  • Leads the integration of digital platforms (web, mobile, and API-based systems) with various enterprise systems, ensuring seamless interaction and data flow between digital touchpoints and backend systems like CRM, ERP, Pension Platform, and other internal applications.
  • Works closely with Integration Specialists and Middleware Engineers to ensure that front-end systems efficiently communicate with enterprise middleware, ESBs, and cloud-based services.
  • Oversees API design and integration to ensure the seamless exchange of data between internal and external systems, improving the overall user experience and service delivery.
  • Ensures that integration solutions are mobile-optimized and secure, maintaining the highest standards of data integrity and performance across all channels.
  • Acts as a technical leader for cross-team collaboration, ensuring alignment between design, development, and integration functions to meet project timelines and quality standards.

Collaboration

  • Collaborates with external vendors and third-party development teams to ensure that system designs meet GPSSA’s high-quality standards and user expectations, while adhering to best practices in mobile development, security protocols, and performance optimization.
  • Partners with cloud architects, backend developers, and mobile app developers to ensure end-to-end digital solutions are consistent, scalable, and optimized for various devices, platforms, and use cases.
  • Facilitates workshops and brainstorming sessions with key stakeholders to refine system specifications, gather feedback, and ensure continuous alignment with organizational objectives and user experience goals

Continuous Improvement and Innovation

  • Evaluates existing digital channels, including web and mobile apps, identifying opportunities for enhancement and optimization through data analysis, A/B testing, and user feedback.
  • Leads the implementation of emerging technologies and best practices in mobile development, such as progressive web apps (PWAs), mobile-first design, augmented reality (AR), and voice-activated interfaces to ensure innovation and digital competitiveness.
  • Provides insights and actionable recommendations for improving the mobile user experience, including mobile performance optimization, push notification strategies, personalization, and security.
  • Stays ahead of industry trends and user behavior patterns to identify new opportunities for digital transformation that enhance the user journey and improve digital engagement.

Self-Management Responsibilities

  • Defines performance goals at the start of the year in discussion with the Line Manager and ensures that the goals are achieved during the course of the year.
  • Identifies the training and development requirements for self and agrees on them with the Line Manager to ensure that the required trainings are arranged and attended.
  • Strives to achieve the highest levels of proficiency on all the competencies and skills required to perform the role.
  • Keeps abreast of professional developments, new techniques and current issues through continued education and professional growth.

  • Mobile Development & Frameworks: React Native, Flutter, Swift (iOS), Kotlin (Android), Xamarin, Vue.js, Angular, Progressive Web Apps (PWA)
  • System Integration & Middleware: MuleSoft, Apache Camel, Oracle Service Bus (OSB), ESB, API Management, RESTful APIs, GraphQL, WebSockets
  • Cloud & API Integration: AWS Lambda, Google Cloud Functions, Azure Logic Apps, RESTful APIs, OAuth 2.0, JWT
  • Digital Channel Technologies: Responsive Web Design, Mobile-First Design, Cross-Platform Development, UI/UX Design, Design Systems, Prototyping (Figma, Adobe XD)
  • Front-End Development: HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, TypeScript, SASS, Bootstrap, Tailwind CSS
  • Security & Data Protection: OAuth, JWT, SSL/TLS Encryption, Mobile App Security (OWASP Mobile Top 10), GDPR
  • Performance Optimization: Page Load Optimization, Lazy Loading, Responsive Performance, Mobile App Caching, Push Notifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Mobile and Digital Channel Development Certifications
  • Cloud and Integration Certifications
  • Project Management and Agile Certifications
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in designing and developing mobile applications (iOS and Android), responsive web platforms, and digital channels
  • 6+ years of experience in system integration within enterprise-level environments
