Your Role

As a Security Engineer, you'll be responsible for safeguarding our infrastructure and ensuring the security of our operations. You'll work closely with various teams to identify and mitigate threats, while maintaining a seamless user experience.

What You Will Be Doing:

As a Security Analyst, you will play a crucial role in protecting the organization’s infrastructure by gathering, analyzing, and monitoring logs and events to detect and respond to potential threats. You will engage directly with various teams, balancing security requirements with user experience to ensure seamless protection. Your ability to communicate clearly in both English and Spanish, along with a customer-oriented mindset, will help maintain the organization’s resilience against security threats.

Key Responsibilities:

Monitoring & Incident Response:

• Track security alerts from applications, network devices, operating systems, and EDR tools.

• Investigate and respond to incidents such as breaches, malware infections, and policy violations.

• Collaborate with other teams to contain incidents, minimizing impact and recovery time.

• Document and report incident details, response efforts, and outcomes.

Security Operations & Optimization:

• Perform continuous monitoring of network traffic, system logs, and security events to detect anomalies.

• Analyze alerts, conducting forensic investigations to determine root causes of incidents.

• Optimize and maintain security tools, including SIEM platforms, IDS/IPS, and endpoint protection systems.

• Configure systems to reduce false positives and enhance detection capabilities.

• Create and manage dashboards, KPIs, and regular reports for senior management.

Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing:

• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies.

• Partner with IT teams to strengthen the organization’s security posture.

• Work with external vendors and law enforcement as needed for incident resolution.

• Provide guidance to junior security team members and promote best practices.

• Stay updated on emerging threats and trends in cybersecurity.

Documentation & Reporting:

• Develop incident reports, post-mortem analyses, and playbooks for future response strategies.

• Assist in creating and refining security policies, procedures, and response plans.

• Prepare and deliver detailed reports (weekly/monthly/ad-hoc) for top management.

• Organize work based on tickets (Jira) and ensure processes are followed and improved.

Professional Development & Training:

• Participate in ongoing training and learning opportunities to enhance your skill set.

• Provide insights on new threats, vulnerabilities, and advanced cyber threats to improve awareness within the organization.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, telecommunications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• At least 5 years of experience in a similar role.

• Hands-on experience with SIEM systems, specifically Splunk.

• Strong analytical skills with a background in data analysis and forensic investigations.

• Proven ability to work across teams with a collaborative approach.

• Knowledge of business intelligence tools to build and manage dashboards.

• Exceptional communication and documentation skills in English and Spanish.

• Ability to apply a risk-based approach in security operations.

• Self-starter with excellent organizational and time management abilities.

Competencies:

• Reading Comprehension: Ability to understand and follow detailed procedures and task tickets independently.

• Organization: Managing recurring tasks, research, cross-team communication, and process development (50/30/10/10 split).

• Prioritization: Ensuring SIEM alerts and other tasks are prioritized correctly.

• Communication: Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical ideas clearly.

• Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve security challenges effectively.

• Adaptability: Ability to work in high-pressure situations and make sound decisions quickly.

Bonus Points:

• Experience with other SIEM systems (Graylog, Google Chronicle, etc.).

• Knowledge of cybersecurity certifications.

• Additional experience in data analysis tools and reporting platforms.
