About the Company:

Our client is a fast-growing fintech scale-up based in Europe, building AI-powered financial solutions that help individuals and businesses make smarter money decisions. Backed by leading investors, they’re expanding their ML team to accelerate product innovation—and they’re looking for a sharp Machine Learning Engineer to join on a freelance contract basis.

The Role:

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you’ll work closely with product and engineering teams to design, develop, and deploy machine learning models into production. This is a hands-on role with real business impact, helping shape core financial intelligence features.

Key responsibilities:

• Build and maintain machine learning models for risk scoring, fraud detection, personalisation, and other fintech use cases
• Pre-process, clean, and transform large datasets using modern data pipelines
• Deploy models into production environments using MLOps best practices
• Collaborate with data engineers, product managers, and software engineers
• Contribute to model monitoring, performance tuning, and retraining workflows
• Help design the overall ML architecture and experimentation framework

Tech Stack:

Experience with some or most of the following is preferred:

• Languages: Python (NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow)
• Tools: MLflow, Airflow, Docker, Weights & Biases
• Infra: AWS, SageMaker, GCP Vertex AI, Kubernetes
• Data Tools: Snowflake, BigQuery, SQL, dbt
• MLOps: CI/CD pipelines, model versioning, monitoring tools

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in applied Machine Learning
• Experience working as a contractor or freelancer (or very comfortable doing so)
• Strong understanding of model deployment and MLOps
• Comfortable working independently and collaborating remotely
• Fluent in English (German is a bonus)
• Based in Germany or EU with right to work as a contractor
