The opportunity

Roche’s Pharmaceutical Sciences organization within pRED (Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lab Head in Genomic Biomarker Development to lead cutting-edge genomics research supporting early clinical trials and preclinical safety studies across all disease areas in pRED.

As part of our Genetics and Genomics chapter, you will oversee a high-performing lab specializing in Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), digital droplet PCR (ddPCR), and molecular profiling techniques, ensuring the delivery of high-quality genomic data that support decision-making in early drug development and drives precision medicine.

Your leadership will shape innovative genomic workflows, cross-functional collaboration, and strategic advancements in biomarker development. This role provides an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of science, technology, and healthcare impact.

  • You will oversee all lab operations, ensuring seamless workflows, rigorous quality control, and adherence to safety standards
  • You will cultivate a high-performing team through effective leadership, mentorship, and talent development
  • You will align and execute laboratory activities with G&G's strategic objectives, ensuring significant contributions to organizational goals
  • You will develop and optimize exploratory clinical genomics workflows, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams
  • You will drive the identification, implementation, and integration of innovative genomic technologies, working with G&G biomarker experts to advance genetic and genomic biomarker development and safety assessment
  • You will strategically prioritize and optimize lab processes to maximize efficiency and resource utilization
  • You will manage lab resources, expenditures, and strategic partnerships, alongside ensuring high standards of data integrity and quality across all lab activities, and you will provide hands-on support as needed

Who You Are

You hold a PhD, MD, or equivalent in molecular biology, biochemistry, genomics, or a related field with 5+ years of experience in clinical genomics assay development within pharma, biotech, or academia. Your expertise includes NGS, ddPCR, single-cell genomics, and spatial transcriptomics, alongside a strong foundation in experimental design, bioinformatics, and regulatory standards.

As a collaborative leader, you bring a track record of mentoring teams, optimizing lab workflows, and driving scientific innovation. You thrive in cross-functional environments, working alongside bioinformaticians, clinicians, and regulatory teams to advance genomic biomarker research.
