About the Role

We are seeking an experienced IP Network Engineer to join our team in Dublin. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven individual to work within a dynamic Service Provider environment, contributing directly to the evolution of our Core IP Network.

You will play a key role in designing, building, and migrating critical network infrastructure, while also supporting innovation through lab testing and service development. The successful candidate will collaborate with IP architects and engineering teams to deliver robust, scalable network solutions.



Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and implement MPLS networks and configuration changes
  • Plan and execute physical interconnect and service migrations
  • Deliver IP transit implementations and migrations
  • Work closely with IP architects to help shape the future core network
  • Innovate and develop bespoke network services in a lab environment
  • Script and template new services for scalable deployment
  • Perform software/hardware upgrades and migrations during maintenance windows
  • Configure and support core network elements (P / PE / BNG / routers / aggregation switches)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues under pressure
  • Engage with vendor TAC teams for escalations and replication of faults
  • Manage IPv4/IPv6 address requirements
  • Ensure proper service handover from Service Delivery to Operations

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Third-level qualification in Telecommunications or related field
  • 3+ years’ experience in a Network Engineering role with a Telco
  • Strong Juniper experience (JNCIA/JNCIS or equivalent hands-on JunOS experience)
  • Proficient with Juniper MX Series platforms
  • Experience with multi-vendor hardware (Cisco, Juniper, Ciena, Nokia)
  • Deep understanding of IP and routing protocols: OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VRRP, VPLS, L2/L3 VPNs, IPv6, Segment Routing, etc.
  • Strong documentation and troubleshooting skills
  • Full clean driving licence


Desired:

  • Cisco certifications (CCNA R&S / CCNP R&S / CCNP SP)
  • Experience in scripting (Python or similar)
  • Familiarity with lab environments and automation practices

  • Practical experience with physical migrations and fibre patching
