Responsibilities and Duties:
- Collaborating with network architects to design and implement functional company networks.
- Installing and configuring networking hardware.
- Creating and implementing network security measures.
- Conducting regular network performance tests.
- Design, deploy, monitor and troubleshoot wide area networks using a variety of network equipment, software and protocols including network routers, wide area network protocols, MPLS, Frame Relay and private leased lines, IPSec VPNS, dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), access lists, bandwidth management, WAN QoS and Cisco IOS
- Design, deploy, monitor and troubleshoot secure networks using a variety of network equipment, software and protocols including Cisco ASA firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, local and wide area network equipment, wireless network protocols (EAP and encryption security protocols) and security alerting and monitoring systems
- Provide superior customer service to internal and external clients, including response to escalations, proactively notifying customers of network issues, and assessing and communicating business impact
- Work with third-party partners to provision site to site IPSEC VPNs
- Configure and utilize a variety of network management tools
- Find and implement new technologies which simplify the network environment while improving security and performance
- Monitor the network ticket queue and update and escalate tickets in accordance to Service Level Agreement requirements
- Work directly with LECs and IXCs to provision and troubleshoot WAN connectivity
- Partner with Operations to provide solutions to support global network operations, document designs and standards, and provide training and implementation guidance on newly introduced technologies, design, and equipment
- Design of end-to-end networking solutions, , Global backbone—WAN, Metro, Data Center—LAN, transit and peering, supporting mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and partnerships
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field.
- Previous work experience as a networking engineer.
- Advanced knowledge of network operating systems including Cisco, JUNOS, and IOS.
- Knowledge of networking hardware including CPUs, wiring, and routers.
- Familiarity with communication and routing protocols.
- Familiarity with network analysis tools including SolarWind.
- Proficiency with coding languages including Python and Perl.
- Excellent leadership and mentoring skills.
- High level problem-solving and communication skills.
- List any licenses or certifications required by the position: CCNP, CCIE, CCNA, F5, ITIL, CCDP, CCISP, SP, JNCIP, AWS
