L3 Network Engineer – Global Infrastructure Support (Contract Role- NV1 needed)

Location: Canberra/Melbourne/Sydney

We are seeking a skilled Network Engineer to support and maintain a large-scale global IT network spanning over 60 locations across 50+ countries. This role is a mix of BAU operations and project-based work contributing to a cloud-first transformation and reduced on-premise footprint.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform L2/L3 support, monitor system health, and manage fault response
  • Configure and maintain Fortinet and Cisco-based network infrastructure (DC, SD-WAN, VPN, WiFi)
  • Contribute to digital transformation projects and service enhancement initiatives
  • Research and recommend improvements to network tools, protocols, and processes
  • Ensure security compliance and maintain documentation per operational standards
  • Participate in on-call support and occasional after-hours/weekend work

Technical Skills Required

  • Fortinet suite (FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAuthenticator, FortiAnalyzer)
  • Cisco networking and Azure cloud networking services
  • Network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds)
  • Strong understanding of routing protocols (EIGRP, BGP, OSPF), IPSEC, IKE, DMVPN
  • Experience with SNMPv3, NetFlow, AVC, NBAR
  • Solid knowledge of encryption/authentication protocols (802.1x, RADIUS, TACACS+, TLS, EAP)

Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Proven experience supporting global communications networks
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and operations background
  • Clear, effective communicator (written and verbal)
  • Ability to manage time across BAU and project priorities
  • Awareness of cybersecurity standards and practices
