Manager - Data Engineering

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Data Engineering team at Oliver Wyman. This role will be based in Gurugram, India

As a Senior Data Engineer, you have an opportunity to create impact as a seasoned professional and drive complex projects while working with global teams. This role will contribute to the development and delivery of cutting-edge projects which have high visibility to senior-level management in both business and technical groups.

We will count on you to:

• Design and implement processes to ingest data into the Databricks Lakehouse platform hosted on AWS, ensuring compliance with architectural standards.
• Design and implement scalable data solutions on AWS, ensuring optimal performance and cost-effectiveness while adhering to best practices in cloud data management.
• Lead the development and optimization of ETL pipelines and data models using the Medallion Architecture (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers) for improved data processing and facilitate data transformation.
• Utilize Databricks to integrate, consolidate, and cleanse data, ensuring accuracy and readiness for analysis, while leveraging Delta Lake for versioned data management.
• Implement and manage Unity Catalog for centralized governance, ensuring data access, security, and compliance with organizational policies.
• Collaborate with business analysts, data scientists, and stakeholders to understand their data requirements and deliver tailored solutions that leverage the capabilities of the Databricks Lakehouse platform.
• Promote available data and analytics capabilities to business stakeholders, educating them on how to effectively leverage these tools and the Medallion Architecture for their analytical needs.
• Lead the migration of ETL processes from Informatica IICS to cloud-based pipelines, focusing on efficiency and minimal disruption.
• Stay updated on industry trends data engineering, contribute to best practices, and demonstrate problem-solving skills to enhance business productivity.
  
  

What you need to have:

• Strong understanding of DevOps tools and best practices for data engineering, including CI/CD, unit and integration testing, automation, and orchestration.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, with an ability to see and solve issues before they affect business productivity.
• Must possess strong experience in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and proficiency in leveraging AWS tools services for data engineering tasks, which includes AWS architecture, storage solutions, and cloud-based ETL processes.
• Expertise in scaling ETL pipelines for performance and cost-effectiveness.
• Good understanding of data warehousing concepts with strong hold on Python, Pyspark and SQL scripts.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
