Junior Data Analyst

As Data Analyst, you will be a fully-participating member of a cross-functional team working autonomously on technology development and problem resolution in the Enterprise Data & Analytics space. The role involves the analysis aspects of sourcing and transforming data to ensure it delivers on the insights required by Emirates Airlines and Emirates Group business stakeholders.

In This Role, You Will

• Assist in the collection of data dictionaries and creation of business glossaries. Maintain core data repositories and analytics inventory documentation as data sources and interfaces change over time ensuring these are up to date as per requirements.
• Support the Manager with administrative/support tasks, related to the delivery of Data Analytics and reporting including adhoc data analysis autonomously across assigned areas of responsibility.
• Conduct data profiling to analyze quality of incoming data and advise on any data cleansing rules, or issue resolution options in case of incidents (including analysis of potential data quality issues). Incorporate business transformation rules into solution designs or mapping documents to ensure solutions provide timely business value.
• Conduct rudimentary data gap analysis to understand availability of required data, by comparing to existing core data repositories.
• Document proposed or modified data interfaces, including fit for data models, data flow timing, source-to-target mapping, uniqueness criteria and data transformation rules including data validations and controls.
• Review technical solutions to ensure they effectively meet the analytical requirements and expectations.
• Assist with source system identification and data profiling activities during the discovery phase of new initiatives.
• Keep current on evolving data and analytics business knowledge domains to accurately assess the quality of the data and ensure business glossaries remain up-to-date, and drive quality and consistency across data and analytic solutions.
• Proactively work with senior and lead data analysts, chapter leads and line managers to upskill on the data analysis technology set used by Data Engineering.
• Support user data and analytics training sessions with preparation of training material in line with requirements of the manager
  
  

Qualifications & Experience

To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:

12 yrs schooling or equivalent Consideration will be given to those with 12+3 years in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Computational Mathematics, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering. Specialization or electives in a Data & Analytics field (e.g. Data Warehousing, Data Science, Business Intelligence) a nice-to-have 4+ yrs experience in Data Analysis experience (Fewer years' experience will be considered for Masters degree holders) - Minimum 1+ years conducting data analysis tasks (e.g. source system identification, data dictionary / metadata collection, data profiling, source-to-target mapping) - Understanding of business transformation rules and data solution designs - Exposure to moderate complexity SQL queries to analyze data and provide results to business users or project team members - Experience with building information designs for data-centric projects on one or more of the following (preferably within a airlines industry): Data Warehouses, Big Data Environment for Analytics, Data API, Business Intelligence Solutions - Exposure to data governance or business intelligence tools (e.g. Collibra, Snowflake, Microstrategy, Power BI,Tableau) a nice-to-have - Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite(Excel, Powerpoint) - Airline/Travel industry experience a nice-to-have Knowledge/Skills: - Good communicator, able to clearly communicate rationale and approaches to peers and some business stakeholders - Operates with a 'You Code It, You Own It' mindset (i.e. supports the products they build) - Demonstrated problem-solver, able to design and document solutions independently - Strong work ethic, being results-oriented, and accuracy / attention to detail are critical - Demonstrated initiative, able to work both independently and as a team member - Team player, able to collaborate with others to remove blockers, solve complex data problems and debug/resolve issues - Self-starter and has passion for exploring and learning new technologies, especially those in the Enterprise Data & Analytics space - Able to deliver solutions (and associated value) iteratively - Is accountable and displays positive attitude IT Specific: Technology Domain Key Technologies/Tools Big Data & Distributed Processing Querying HDFS or ADLS file storage systems, with tools such as Hive or H-Base, ElasticSearch, Experience with AVRO / PARQUET file formats nice-to-have Data Analysis, Modelling and Reporting SQL, Snowflake, Data Vault 2.0, MicroStrategy, Power BI
