Location - Bristol/Hybrid

Salary - £55,000 / £65,000

We are looking for a Software Engineer to work with a leading technology business which is working to address modern security challenges. Working and collaborating with leading organisations across telecommunications, government, defence, and finance to enhance cybersecurity with quantum-safe encryption.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain software for quantum and cryptographic security applications
• Work closely with hardware teams to integrate and optimize control systems
• Debug and improve complex systems, ensuring reliability and efficiency
• Apply expertise in physics, mathematics, and measurement science to solve technical challenges
• Collaborate in a multidisciplinary team, contributing to problem-solving and innovation
• Adapt to new challenges, working with ambiguity and evolving technologies

Skills

• Proficiency in C++
• Experience with GitLab and continuous integration tools
• Background in software development for control systems
• Hands-on experience with hardware and lab-based work
• Strong analytical skills, particularly in debugging and system optimisation
• Ability to work autonomously and handle uncertainty in complex projects

Nice to have

• Familiarity with C, Python, Rust, SBC/ARM, FPGA, or front-end UI for control systems
• Knowledge of quantum key distribution (QKD), photonics, networking, or cryptograph
