Dev Manager

Job Description

Anonyome is looking for a development manager to lead and mentor development teams. You will work with architects, team leads, and product managers to help guide the scrum teams towards continual improvement and craftsmanship. You will develop a deep understanding of the people you lead and the practices and technologies we leverage. You will apply your expertise in planning, prioritizing and executing the company’s strategic objectives. You will support the career growth and self-development of your direct reports, as well as foster an inclusive and collaborative environment where your team will perform their most impactful work.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of software development processes, and demonstrable experience driving the execution of high-quality technical solutions. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, project management, and team-management skills to ensure the success of our software development projects.

Responsibilities

  • Own the growth, quality and output of the engineering team in our Gold Coast office
  • Play a key role in recruiting and hiring the best engineering talent to support our continued growth in the market
  • Manage the goals and career paths of your people, conducting regular 1-on-1s and giving feedback and guidance
  • Own and continuously refine the processes and communication strategies your team uses to build and support products
  • Work with a product manager, architects and development managers to ensure that the roadmap is realistic and understood
  • Work with your manager to turn the roadmap into staffing needs and a recruiting/hiring funnel
  • Be an ongoing contributor to one or more of our software platforms (e.g. Java, iOS, Android), though it is not expected that you will be coding full-time
  • Collaborate with the engineering managers in our other labs to ensure consistency and constant improvement across the organization

Must-haves

  • B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • 5+ years of experience building modern software applications in a growth-stage start up, consumer product company or enterprise engineering environment
  • 3+ years of experience managing and growing software engineering teams as a people manager - experience as a hiring manager a big plus
  • Excellence in communicating complex concepts (written and oral)

Bonus Points

  • Experience scaling native iOS / Android apps and/or Java backend
  • Experience in privacy, security, messaging, telephony, etc.
  • Experience in the design, implementation, deployment and maintenance of SaaS systems
  • Working knowledge of API design and distributed backend systems
