Senior Network Engineer

Job Purpose:

This role is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of the organization’s network infrastructure. This role focuses on ensuring that all network components operate efficiently, securely, and reliably to support organizational goals. This role will lead complex network projects and collaborate with other IT teams to enhance network performance and security.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities

Network Design and Architecture

• Designs and develops robust network solutions to meet the evolving needs of the organization, ensuring scalability, resilience, and alignment with current and future business requirements.
• Collaborates with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business objectives into detailed network specifications and technical designs that optimize performance and user experience.
• Creates and maintains comprehensive network architecture documentation, including diagrams and design standards, to support implementation and troubleshooting.
• Participates in evaluating network infrastructure technology and provide recommendations to the management.

Implementation and Configuration

• Leads the implementation, configuration, and integration of network devices, ensuring they adhere to organizational standards and best practices.
• Coordinates with vendors and service providers to manage the installation and deployment of network components, ensuring seamless integration and functionality across the infrastructure.
• Implements firmware and software upgrades for network devices, ensuring stability, performance, and security.

Performance Monitoring and Optimization

• Monitors network performance using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques, analyzing data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for optimization, and implementing changes to enhance overall network efficiency.
• Conducts regular assessments of network capacity and performance, recommending upgrades or adjustments to infrastructure components to ensure optimal operation and support for business applications.

Troubleshooting and Incident Response

• Coordinates with other IT teams to address network-related incidents, ensuring timely resolution and root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
• Maintains detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and incidents, ensuring that knowledge is captured for future reference and supports continuous improvement efforts.

Documentation and Knowledge Management

• Maintains accurate and up-to-date documentation for all infrastructure configurations, processes, and procedures, ensuring that information is readily available for team members and supports operational continuity.
• Contributes to the development of knowledge-sharing resources, providing training and support to team members on network infrastructure technologies.
• Generate periodic reports in line with industry standards of ITSM.

Collaboration and Support

• Works closely with other IT teams, including security, and application support, to provide comprehensive network infrastructure solutions that meet the organization’s needs.

Self-Management Responsibilities

• Defines performance goals at the start of the year in discussion with the Line Manager and ensures that the goals are achieved during the course of the year.
• Identifies the training and development requirements for self and agrees on them with the Line Manager to ensure that the required trainings are arranged and attended.
• Strives to achieve the highest levels of proficiency on all the competencies and skills required to perform the role.
• Keeps abreast of professional developments, new techniques and current issues through continued education and professional growth.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum 7+ years of experience in related field.
