Data Engineer (f/m/x)

About hokify:

As we scale our data platform and focus more on AI in our products, we are looking for a Data Engineer to help us design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines that move data from our production MongoDB to our warehousing solution. You will own the data warehouse and ensure seamless data flow between different systems, enabling our teams to extract insights and power AI-driven use cases.

Your responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines to efficiently ingest data from our production MongoDB into our data lakehouse
  • Ensure data integrity, quality, and governance across all data sources
  • Work closely with product and engineering teams to understand data needs and implement scalable solutions
  • Optimize data models for analytical workloads and reporting (BI tools, AI models, etc.)
  • Manage and monitor data flows, ensuring high availability and reliability
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure for data processing, ensuring security best practices are followed
  • Automate and streamline data processing tasks using modern orchestration tools
  • Own the data warehouse, defining best practices and ensuring performance scalability


Our tech stack:

  • BigQuery Data Warehouse
  • Looker Studio for BI reporting
  • AWS / Docker / ECS for our application cloud infrastructure
  • Node.js (Express, TSOA, Inversify, TypeScript) for backend
  • Nuxt / Vue.js (TypeScript, Tailwind, SCSS) for frontend
  • Hexagonal microservice architecture with independently deployable services
  • RESTful APIs for internal services
  • MongoDB & Redis as our core databases
  • Elasticsearch for search and analytics


Your qualifications:

  • Professional experience in Data Engineering and designing scalable data pipelines
  • Proficiency with MongoDB and handling semi-structured/NoSQL data
  • Strong knowledge of ETL/ELT processes and data modeling for analytical as well as AI related use cases
  • Hands-on experience with orchestration tools like Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect
  • Familiarity with data warehouses such as BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift
  • Experience with Python or TypeScript for data processing
  • Solid understanding of AWS services (S3, Lambda, ECS, Glue, etc.)
  • Experience with CI/CD and automation of data workflows
  • Quick learner with enthusiasm for challenges
  • Intrinsic motivation and ownership of delivery & projects
  • Proactive problem-solving mindset, optimism, and hands-on approach


Nice to have:

  • Professional experience with Lakehouse solutions and modern data toolings (e.g., DataBricks, Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran)
  • Experience with data modelling and ETL processes
  • Experience with data visualisation tools and reporting automation
  • German language skills or the willingness to learn it

The salary is from EUR 56,000 gross/year. Your actual salary will be agreed depending on your qualifications and experience.
