About The Role

As a Junior Software Engineer at mediaire GmbH, you will contribute to the development and enhancement of software for our medical products. You will help drive software quality by suggesting new technologies, optimizing the codebase, and improving our testing and deployment infrastructure. With mentorship from senior engineers, you’ll grow your skills while also supporting junior team members and contributing to the overall growth of the software team.

Your Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance software components for existing and future medical products (mdbrain/mdprostate) and non-medical product (mdhub).
• Ensure high software quality by proposing new technologies, setting/improving quality standards, and suggesting refactorings for the existing codebase.
• Improve and add new automations to optimize automated testing and deployment infrastructure.
• Proactively contribute ideas, solutions, and improvements in product and technical discussions.
• Receive mentorship from senior engineers and later guide junior engineers.
• Lead and participate in workshops to enhance the skills of the software team.
• Ensure internal documentation remains well-maintained and up-to-date.
  
  

YOUR BACKGROUND

• You have a degree in Computer Science.
• You have some experience as a Software Engineer and are eager to grow further.
• You’re passionate about developing into a Full-stack Developer and are motivated to advance your Python and JavaScript/React knowledge.
• You have a solid understanding of operating systems, networking fundamentals, and database theory.
• You have hands-on experience with Docker.
• You value simplicity and maintainability, always seeking simple, effective solutions to engineering challenges and making balanced trade-offs.
• You are fluent in English (at least C1 level).
  
  

WHAT MAKES YOU STAND OUT

• You have experience working on Artificial Intelligence-related projects.
• You are familiar with or have worked with the DICOM protocol/standard.
• You have experience with (medical) 3D image processing (bonus points if you’ve worked with tools like vtk.js, itk.js, or cornerstone.js in the browser).
• You are fluent in German (at least C1 level).

About Us

mediaire was founded in 2018 by Dr. Andreas Lemke and Dr. Jörg Döpfert – both physicists with a background in MRI physics. The real founding history, however, dates back to 2009 when the scientific paths of Andreas and Jörg crossed several times with the renowned radiologist Prof. Henrik Michaely. Coming from different backgrounds and discovering that each had the same goal, the idea of a scientifically and economically successful high-tech product took shape – a software powered by artificial intelligence (AI) that allows highly efficient analysis of medical imaging data in Radiology to support radiologists in their daily routine.
