Associate Scientist
As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to be at the forefront of developing and using -omics analysis and modelling algorithms to drive innovation in health and sustainability, with a particular focus on the microbiome and microbial -omics data. We work in interdisciplinary teams integrating computational biology with advanced data science methodologies - all in close collaboration with leading experts in nutrition, health and (micro)biology.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement bioinformatics algorithms and models to support and innovate for dsm-firmenich’s nutrition, health and biotechnology projects;
- Utilize Python and/or R and its most common libraries to build and optimize omics analysis methods and platforms;
- Develop, deploy and manage omics workflows on cloud infrastructure using bioinformatics workflow languages;
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate scientific requirements into scalable and user-friendly tools;
- Stay abreast of the latest advancements in bioinformatics, microbiome research and metabolic modeling and translate this to discoveries and insights that drive innovation;
- Apply modern tools such as git, AWS, Docker, relational data models, cloud-native computing and API endpoints in your daily work;

- Based on your experience we will offer you a base salary of € 57,829 to € 82,613 per year (including holiday allowance and 13th month) and extra benefits, such as 25 holiday days, a bonus, the option to buy more holiday days with a 6% my choice budget and much more.
- Ph.D. or similar experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field;
- 1-3 years of additional academic or industrial work experience in bioinformatics and computational biology, ideally applied to microbiome or microbial genomics;
- Strong proficiency in scientific programming languages (Python/R) and its data science libraries;
- Strong understanding of algorithms to analyze microbiome data and/or build metabolic models is a plus;
- Hands-on experience with AWS services and bioinformatic workflow languages;
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively;
- Strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex concepts to non-experts;
