Backend Developer | Remote | 10-Month Contract

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Backend Developer to join an innovative remote project. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Spring Boot and Kotlin, experience working in Agile environments, and hands-on knowledge of cloud platforms and message-oriented systems. This role involves building scalable, high-availability backend solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and ensuring seamless backend integrations.

On-Call Requirement: No
Travel Requirement: Yes (1-2 times per year)
Utilization: 100% (Full-time)

Key Responsibilities

Backend Development & API Integration:

Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend applications using Spring Boot and Kotlin.
Integrate message-oriented systems such as JMS/MQTT to ensure seamless communication across services.
Implement high-availability and concurrent processing solutions (preferred).

Cloud & Infrastructure:

Work with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Kubernetes (basic experience required).
Optimize backend performance and scalability in cloud-based environments.

Agile Development & Collaboration:

Participate in Agile/Scrum workflows, ensuring smooth cross-team collaboration.
Work closely with frontend developers and DevOps engineers for backend integration.
Utilize Jira and Confluence for documentation and project tracking.

Testing & Code Quality:

Implement test automation using JUnit or Kotest to ensure code reliability.
Use Git and IntelliJ IDEA for version control and development.

Required Skills & Experience

Soft Skills:

Agile/Scrum Experience: Proven ability to work in an Agile development environment.
Collaboration: Experience coordinating with cross-functional teams for seamless backend integration.
Adaptability: Quick learner, able to adopt new backend technologies efficiently.
Experience with high-availability systems and concurrency (preferred).

Hard Skills:

Backend Development: Minimum 5 years of experience with Spring Boot & Kotlin.
Cloud Platforms: Basic experience with AWS, Azure, or Kubernetes.
Message-Oriented Systems: At least 1 year of experience with JMS/MQTT or similar technologies.
Development Tools:

IntelliJ IDEA, Git for code development and version control.
Test Automation: JUnit or Kotest.
Project Management Tools: Jira & Confluence.
