Valpak is at the forefront of innovation, dedicated to improving and streamlining business processes through cutting-edge technology. We are looking for a passionate and self-starting ML/AI Engineer to join our team as the first member of our ML squad.

As an ML/AI Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing machine learning and artificial intelligence solutions that enhance and optimize our business processes. You will play a crucial role in driving results and delivering significant business value. This position requires a high degree of ownership and the ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively with other teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop robust ML/AI models to solve complex business problems, ensuring alignment with scalability, performance, and security best practices.
• Understanding of NLP concepts, familiarity with LLMs, knowledge of MLOps tools and best practices.
• Implement and optimize algorithms for data analysis and predictive modelling.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ML/AI solutions into existing systems, ensuring alignment with Agile processes and product roadmaps.
• Continuously monitor, evaluate, and enhance the performance and scalability of deployed models, utilizing automated testing and monitoring where possible
• Drive the end-to-end lifecycle of ML/AI projects from ideation to deployment, ensuring smooth transitions between development, testing, and deployment phases, and adhering to SDLC principles.
• Document development processes, results, and findings clearly and present them to stakeholders. Share knowledge with the wider organization, enabling squad members to apply ML/AI practices.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in ML/AI technologies and methodologies and implement them to continually improve our capabilities.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to other team members on ML/AI practices, fostering collaboration and a continuous learning environment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in machine learning, artificial intelligence, or data science.
• Expertise in developing efficient and scalable ML solutions.
• Strong programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages.
• Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle and supporting toolsets
• Experience working with Agile development methodologies
• Experience with ML frameworks and libraries such as PySpark, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn, with a focus on applying these tools in a scalable, maintainable way.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically about business challenges and how ML/AI can address them.
• Strong sense of ownership, able to take initiative, and drive projects forward independently while being collaborative with other teams.
• Previous leadership experience or experience in a similar role is a bonus, especially in providing guidance or mentorship to others on ML/AI solutions.
• Previous experience in implementing ML/AI models using Databricks Model Serving and Implementing MLOps using Databricks Platform would be an asset.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and integrating feedback into solutions.
