As a Senior Backend Engineer at hokify, you'll be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining our Node.js-based backend solutions enabling companies as well as job seekers to fill job vacancies as fast and convenient as possible. Additionally to the backend development this includes optimizing our MongoDB architecture. You'll implement and enhance search functionalities using Elasticsearch/Opensearch and work closely with your team to build scalable, high-performance microservices.

Your responsibilities:

• Backend and API design and development in a scalable and maintainable way
• Feature development in close collaboration with our product team
• Bug identification and resolution, with infrastructure understanding (e.g., database query performance analysis)
• Code refactoring and optimization (dependency injection, testable code development)
• Software stack optimization and modernization
• Continuous product development, following our "never settle" philosophy

• Node.js (Express, TSOA, Inversify, Typescript) for backend
• Nuxt / Vue.js (Typescript, Tailwind, SCSS) for frontend
• CapacitorJS for our web native mobile PWA
• Monorepo for frontend & backend code using pnpm
• Hexagonal microservice architecture with independently deployable services
• RESTful APIs for internal services
• MongoDB & Redis
• Elasticsearch
• Docker / AWS / ECS

Requirements:

• Professional experience in Javascript
• Strong Javascript/Typescript skills
• Nice-to-have: knowledge of modern scripting languages and programming concepts (e.g., Typescript, Dependency Injection)
• University degree or equivalent technical education, or self-taught developers passionate about Clean Code
• Quick learner with enthusiasm for challenges
• Intrinsic motivation and delivery & project ownership
• Proactive problem solving mindset, optimism, and hands-on approach
• Nice to have: German or the willingness to learn the language

The salary is from EUR 56,000 gross/year. Your actual salary will be agreed depending on your qualifications and experience.
