We’re looking for two senior Full Stack Developers with strong experience in Laravel and/or Vue3, as well as AWS managed services (Lambdas, API Gateway, Load Balancers, RDS, RDS Proxies, CloudFront, Redis).

In this role, you’ll be a key player in developing a groundbreaking platform that’s reshaping disability housing in Australia. You’ll build and maintain both NDIS participant-focused and provider-focused applications, mentor junior developers, and help drive AI-powered innovation in our platform.

We’re especially keen to work with developers who are excited about AI and how it can revolutionize the NDIS space—whether through improving engineering workflows or integrating AI-driven behavior support tools to help participants find safe and compatible housemates.

What is Marco Polo Portal?

Marco Polo Portal is changing the face of disability housing. We’re Australia’s first NDIS housemate-matching platform, designed to help people with disabilities choose who they live with, not just where they live.

You’ll report directly to the Head of Technology, working closely with our R&D team, behavior specialists, and AI experts to push the boundaries of what’s possible in disability housing technology.

Your Responsibilities

🔹 Develop & Maintain Applications – Work on two distinct Vue.js applications: one for NDIS participants and one for support coordinators and SIL providers.

🔹 Build a Seamless Backend – Maintain a Laravel-based backend that enables smooth, intuitive matching for participants.

🔹 Lead AI Innovation – Help integrate AI-powered behavioral matching tools to improve safety and compatibility in shared living.

🔹 Architect & Scale with AWS – Manage and optimize AWS infrastructure, including Lambdas, API Gateway, Load Balancers, RDS, RDS Proxies, Redis, and CloudFront.

🔹 Improve User Workflows – Gain a deep understanding of NDIS participants’ needs and support coordinators’ workflows to build efficient, user-centric solutions.

🔹 Interpret Business Logic – Understand and communicate NDIS-specific requirements at both a high-level and granular technical level.

🔹 SQL Mastery – Write and optimize SQL queries to manage participant data, funding allocations, and housing matches.

🔹 Enhance Platform Performance – Proactively identify and implement usability and performance improvements.

🔹 Collaborate Across Teams – Stay engaged with NDIS sector developments, ensuring our platform evolves to meet real-world challenges.

Candidate Attributes

✅ 3-5+ years of experience in a product-focused company (not an agency) working with Laravel and/or Vue.js.

✅ For front-end-focused candidates: 3+ years of Vue experience

✅ Strong AWS experience (Lambdas, API Gateway, Load Balancers, RDS, RDS Proxies, Redis, CloudFront).

✅ A genuine interest in AI, whether it’s AI-assisted development (e.g., GitHub Copilot, AI-driven testing, automation) or AI-powered matching for disability housing.

✅ You write clean, maintainable code and follow best-practice standards.

✅ You balance business needs with development timelines to deliver results.

✅ You prefer simple, scalable solutions over unnecessary complexity.

✅ You thrive in mission-driven startups, where you can take ownership, work autonomously, and create real impact.
