Senior Data Project Manager


Job Description

As a Senior Data Project Manager – Databricks, you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end delivery of complex data projects leveraging Databricks and modern cloud-based data solutions. You will work closely with data engineers, data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of projects that drive value through data and analytics.


Key Responsibilities

  • Project Management & Delivery: Lead and manage data-driven projects using Databricks, ensuring timely delivery, scope alignment, and business impact.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with business leaders, data teams, and IT departments to understand requirements, define objectives, and drive adoption.
  • Technical Oversight: Work with data engineering teams to design, implement, and optimize data pipelines, ETL processes, and machine learning models within Databricks.
  • Agile & Scrum Methodologies: Manage projects using Agile methodologies, including sprint planning, backlog management, and iterative delivery.
  • Data Governance & Compliance: Ensure best practices in data security, compliance, and governance, aligning with organizational policies.
  • Risk & Issue Management: Identify potential project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure proactive problem-solving.
  • Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Track project KPIs, generate reports, and communicate updates to senior leadership.


Key Skills & Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in data project management, preferably in cloud and big data environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Databricks, Spark, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
  • Experience managing data engineering and analytics projects with tools like Python, SQL, Delta Lake, and MLflow.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to bridge technical and business requirements.
  • Proven experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, or similar tools.
  • Understanding of data governance, compliance, and security best practices.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Databricks certification (e.g., Databricks Data Engineer Associate or Professional).
  • Experience in Energy, Utilities and High Regulation Space.
  • Knowledge of data visualisation tools (Tableau, Power BI).
