Java Applications Developer

Initial contract to 30 June 2025 | Federal Government Agency | Canberra location

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an experienced Java Applications Developer to support this federal government agency with their large-scale modernisation program.

You will work support in the day-to-day development, maintenance and enhancement of applications within the ICT environment, applying expertise to enhance and improve existing software, including designing, developing, implementing and testing software systems, in line with business requirements and software development standards.

You must have demonstrated ability to develop and maintain high quality, robust and scalable enterprise level software solutions using Java and Java EE, along with knowledge and experience in successfully setting priorities and delivering quality results on time and on budget.

You will have the ability to communicate effectively whilst anticipating stakeholder needs and expectations across a geographically dispersed network and proven analytical abilities. Knowledge of, or ability to, quickly gain knowledge of the Commonwealth frameworks, including ICT frameworks would be desirable.

This is a contract opportunity initially to 30 June 2025, with the option of a further 12-month extension, and offers flexible hybrid working options.
