Description

Joining our Rome Research team, you will play an active role in delivering Aurora's Italian power market forecasts, energy policy analysis and client facing services. In particular, the Analyst will help the development of an Italian power grid model, becoming the expert on grid-related issues for the Italian market. In doing so, you will help to guide utilities, investors, and government through the fundamental transition European power markets are facing.

The successful applicant will combine strong quantitative ability with a track record of performance in team-oriented environments. You will work in a dynamic, intellectually stimulating, and demanding yet supportive environment. You will enjoy autonomy, the opportunity to substantially influence major decisions in the energy sector, and to grow into an industry expert under the guidance of directors with deep experience addressing major strategic issues at the world's leading advisory firms.

The position suits a candidate with 1-2 years of work experience, preferably in positions related to power market modelling. Exact entry position will be dependent on experience and educational level.

We are looking for the candidate to begin the role by March 2025

Key Responsibilities


  • Carry out quantitative analysis to deliver our power market forecasts and related analysis

  • Support the development of a grid model for the Italian power system, working closely with our modelling team

  • Monitor market activity, keeping up to date on the latest market developments

  • Deliver both online and in-person presentations and workshops to a broad range of client

  • Work closely with our modelling team, structuring economic problems into quantifiable analyses and deriving insights from the model results

  • Contribute to Aurora's product development, by identifying new opportunities and expanding our capabilities

  • Contribute to the expansion of Aurora's research topics and analytical tools



What we are looking for

Required attributes:

  • Master's degree in a quantitative subject (e.g. Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Physics, Finance)

  • 1-2 years' experience in quantitative analyses is required

  • Competence in advanced data analytics tools (e.g. Python, R, Matlab, Advanced Excel, SQL, Power BI)

  • An ability to collect, analyse and interpret complex quantitative data and information

  • An ability to communicate and collaborate with both technical and non-technical parties

  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills

  • A genuine interest in energy economics and the energy transition

  • Strong teamworking and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency (C1 level) in English and Italian


Beneficial attributes:

  • Existing knowledge or experience in the power sector or a related field

  • Knowledge of power system simulation tools

  • Knowledge of the Italian power markets
