JOB PURPOSE


The role holder is responsible for leading all HR Operations and supporting the Group HR Director in the implementation of HR strategies, policies and procedures in Japan and Korea, and providing HR advice to the Country Director.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Leadership


  • Leads the HR Operations for Japan and Korea for all campuses under the GSF Group.
  • Leads and manages a team of 3-4 HR Professionals in both countries.
  • Supervises, develops, and provides guidance to the HR teams in these countries.
  • Ensures compliance to all statutory guidelines related to employees and employment in the countries.
  • Manages all internal and external stakeholders for smooth functioning of HR Operations.
  • Resolves all HR related queries and reports to the Country Director and Group HR all initiatives and issues in the countries.


Functional


  • Advises the Country Director and Group HR Director on HR matters in the country.
  • Implements initiatives, action plans, procedures, policies, and processes in the countries and ensures alignment with the Group’s mission and vision.
  • Ensures compliance with statutory matters, such as application for employment passes, renewal of work permits, etc. in Japan & Korea
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements in both countries relating to the day-to-day management of employees and recruitment of employees.
  • Ensures all recruitment requirements are addressed on time with smooth onboarding on new staff in both locations.
  • Collaborates with the Group HR Director and Country Director in the organization-wide performance management process and oversees the performance management process in both countries.
  • Conducts the first round of normalization of the bell curve and performance ratings in discussion with the managers and shares the results with the Country Director and the GSF Management.
  • Ensures regular engagement activities in the countries.
  • Drives the corporate engagement surveys in the countries.
  • Manages the rewards program for the countries.
  • Monitors and ensures appraisals are completed in accordance with the timelines.
  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation to all staff and internal stakeholders


Financial


  • Manages HR operations to hit performance metrics for the HR team in the countries.
  • Oversee & ensure timely processing of payroll for all employees in both locations.


Interaction


  • Works closely with the Recruitment Managers, sharing forecasting needs and role requirements and resolve recruitment related issues for the HR Team.
  • Works closely with the Training Manager, encouraging the uptake of training, increasing the training and development hours in the region, and identifying training needs in the countries.
  • Addresses complex employee queries relating to HR; Guide the team on how to address complex employee related queries in a sensitive manner.
  • Maintain networks and relationships with internal and external partners at the working level to keep abreast of the current industry climate and macroeconomic trends


People Focus


  • Collaborates proactively with Recruitment and training teams to continuously increase competency within the team to meet future organisations needs through the development and recruitment of talent.
  • Ensure the recruitment, selection, orientation, and training of employees in the campuses.


JOB REQUIREMENTS


Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent; Preferable Postgraduate/MBA in Human Resource Management


Experience


  • Atleast 10 years of experience in HR, preferably in HR Business Partner role.
  • Experience in Education/ Hospitality industry; Experience in working in a Matrix environment
  • Strong Team management Skills; Should have handled a team of min 3-4 members in the previous roles.
  • Strong Knowledge of Visa applications, Labour laws and employment related statutory guidelines in both Japan and Korea
  • Strong Knowledge in all HR Operations - Recruitment, Onboarding, Employee Engagement, Performance Management, Payroll etc.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with others
