Senior Frontend Developer
Sydney or Melbourne, in-office 3 days/week
Up to $165k Base + Super + Bonus
The Opportunity:
This FinTech builds the software that powers Australia's financial advice ecosystem and underpins trading, market data, and investment workflows for global financial institutions.
Its flagship wealth platform holds circa 65% of the market, generates $100m+ ARR, and is deeply embedded across licensees, advice firms, and everything in between. The scale is there. The customer base is there. The work now centres around AI-led transformation.
The client-facing side of that platform is where this role lives, the gateway clients use to enter their own information, track their portfolios, message their advisers, and manage their accounts. And it is being rebuilt from the inside out.
You'll help drive the re-architecting of the portal, rebuilding core platform functionality in React. This is modernisation with real engineering substance, not a greenfield build and not a maintenance job.
The Role:
- This is a hands-on senior engineering role with real influence, not a stepping stone into management. You will set the front-end bar, own architecture decisions, and mentor the engineers around you in a deliberately flat team.
- You are joining substantial engineering work already in flight, with the rearchitecture underway and the React rebuild ahead of you.
- You will work across Design, Product, and the wider Engineering group, and be expected to think like a product person, not just deliver tickets.
What you'll be doing:
- Build a high-quality, accessible, mobile-responsive front-end for the portal
- Shape and extend the design system, and hold the line on front-end standards and accessibility
- Partner with Design and Product to turn complex advice and portfolio workflows into clean, simple client experiences
- Mentor front-end engineers and lift the craft across the team
- Build features that couple tightly to the core platform through its APIs
What we are looking for:
- Deep, hands-on React and TypeScript - You build complex, stateful interfaces, care about component architecture and render performance, and write front-end code that holds up under change. This is a front-end role first.
- Real design-system experience - You have built, implemented, or meaningfully owned a design system or component library, working with reusable components and design tokens, not just consuming a system someone else maintains.
- Strong accessibility practice - You build to WCAG as a matter of course: semantic HTML, correct ARIA, keyboard navigation, and screen-reader testing. You have shipped accessible interfaces and can talk through the decisions, not just cite the levels.
- Product thinking - You understand why you are building something and how you will know it worked. You can define and measure the outcome of a feature, not just confirm it shipped and runs.
- Back-end capability - Node or Python, experience designing and integrating REST or RPC APIs, your own CI/CD pipelines, and containerisation with Docker.
- AI fluency - You use tools like Copilot or Claude day to day and can illustrate how you use it to build and augment your delivery
