Senior Software Engineer / SME – Infrastructure, DevOps, SecOps, Automation & Oracle DBA

Location: Qatar (On-Site) | Full-Time (12 Months Extendable Contract).

Are you an experienced Infrastructure & Security Engineer with deep expertise across Oracle technologies, DevOps, Automation, Security Operations, and Database Administration?

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer / Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join a high-impact Vodafone transformation programme, helping to build, secure, automate, and operate enterprise-scale hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.

This is an opportunity to work on mission-critical platforms supporting large-scale business services while driving automation, security-by-design, and operational excellence across infrastructure and cloud ecosystems.

What You'll Be Doing:

Design, build, configure, and support Oracle DBX stack infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments.

Support DevOps and DevSecOps initiatives by embedding security controls into CI/CD pipelines

Manage high-availability platforms, disaster recovery, backup and restoration processes.

Troubleshoot infrastructure, networking, virtualization, database, and application issues, performing in-depth Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

Support security operations, incident response, vulnerability remediation, and compliance requirements.

Install, configure, maintain, and optimize Oracle databases including RAC, ASM, Data Guard, OEM, backup & recovery solutions.

Manage and administer enterprise virtualization platforms including:

• Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager (OLVM)
• VMware ESXi / vCenter
• Oracle VM (OVM)
• Deliver Linux administration
• Patching
• Hardening
• Tuning
• Performance optimization across Oracle Linux environments

Lead infrastructure automation using:

• Bash
• Python
• Ansible
• Jenkins

Required Experience:

Infrastructure & Cloud

• 8–10+ years' hands-on experience in enterprise infrastructure environments
• Strong experience with hybrid cloud and on-premises deployments
• Expertise in VMware, OLVM, Oracle VM
• Strong Linux administration (Oracle Linux 7/8/9/10)
• Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, SAN, TLS/HTTPS)
• Cloud platform experience (OCI preferred)

DevOps & Automation:

• Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD
• Terraform, Ansible, Helm
• Docker, Podman, CRI-O
• Kubernetes
• Bash and Python scripting
• Experience automating infrastructure, deployment, monitoring, and remediation activities

Security Operations:

Experience supporting or operating:

• Firewalls & Network Segmentation
• EDR & Endpoint Security
• SIEM Platforms
• Vulnerability Management
• Certificate Management
• Patch Management (Ivanti or similar)
• Micro-Segmentation & Deception Technologies
• Security Hardening (CIS/CSS Benchmarks)

Oracle DBA Expertise:

• Oracle DBX application database installation and configuration
• Oracle RAC and ASM
• Data Guard
• Backup, Recovery & Restore
• Flashback Configuration
• Database Cloning & Replication
• OEM Setup & Administration
• DR Testing & Recovery Exercises
• Database Performance Analysis & Tuning
• Major Incident RCA and Impact Assessments

What We're Looking For:

• Strong troubleshooting and analytical capabilities
• Experience supporting business-critical, high-availability environments
• Proven track record in automation-first and security-first operations
• Ability to work across Infrastructure, Cloud, Security, DevOps, and Database teams
• Experience within telecom or other highly regulated enterprise environments is highly desirable
