How do you make our customers happy?
The Garage is where bol develops entirely new concepts. There are no playbooks or precedents. We ‘simply’ start with a blank piece of paper and an intriguing problem. Right now, one of the questions is: how do we give pre-owned products a home on bol that customers trust and value? As Senior Product Designer, you own the answer. From the first customer interview to a tested, scalable experience. You conceptualize and design the entire journey, embedding fast desirability and value creation validation in every UX choice.
Your mission is to prototype and validate new business propositions for bol. This could mean demonstrating that pre-loved products can still spark “love at first sight,” designing seamless customer journeys for new financial services propositions such as bol.checkout, or exploring how AI can play a central role in shaping the customer experience.
You’ll work across a diverse range of initiatives, as the Garage roadmap continuously evolves ensuring there’s always a new challenge to tackle.
The biggest challenge
Turning ideas into validated propositions comes with real complexity. Rather than optimizing an existing journey, you will define and build new ones from the ground up together with the team, often in uncharted territory. That means navigating high levels of uncertainty: customer needs are still uncovered, solutions are hypotheses to be tested, and success metrics are still to be defined and validated.
You will continuously balance desirability, viability, and feasibility. For example, creating a compelling experience for pre-owned products requires rethinking how consumer’s trust can be gained. At the same time, the propositions and concepts you will be working on must be scalable, future proof and aligned with bol’s broader ecosystem. Finally, you will also play a key role in shaping how AI powered solutions can create unique customer value within our platform.
What you will do as Senior Product Designer - The Garage
You’ll join a compact, cross-functional venture team: a Product Manager, an Engineering Manager, five Engineers, and you. No inherited backlog. No established patterns to follow. The Garage operates with startup energy and an enterprise-grade infrastructure. You’ll work with real customers and data, with the autonomy to shape propositions from initial discovery to validated experiences. You’ll conduct research, build prototypes, test hypotheses, and create clarity that helps the team make better decisions faster. Beyond the Garage’s new propositions, you’ll strengthen our structural design capacity so future Garage endeavors start stronger. What that looks like in practice:
You have experience in product-led environments and understand that, in a venture context, design is about owning outcomes, not just delivering outputs.
You connect individual features into a seamless end-to-end journey without losing sight of the customer problem. You’re comfortable conducting your own research, making decisions with imperfect information, and adapting course when new evidence emerges. You know when to research and when to prototype, when to align stakeholders and when to move fast. While experience in marketplace businesses is valuable, your track record of building new propositions from scratch is what will set you apart.
Where you'll be working
The Garage is bol’s internal incubator; a small, entrepreneurial team with the freedom to ex-plore new ideas for the core platform. You’ll work alongside product, engineering, and strategy colleagues in an environment that values rapid learning over perfect planning, and validated direction over polished decks. The pre-owned proposition is live and building, but you won’t be inheriting someone else’s vision; you’ll be establishing one. With 2,900 colleagues serving 14 million customers and 43,300 partners, the infrastructure and data are there. The blank floor is yours. Ready to build something that didn’t exist before?
Something for you?

- Research customer and partner needs, behaviors, and barriers to shape proposition and it's design
- Design the end-to-end proposition journey across all key touchpoints

- Facilitate workshops and design reviews that inspire alignment across the Garage team and adjacent stakeholders
- Support experimentation, A/B testing, customer interviews
- Deliver tested designs and clear experience direction that support launch and future scaling

Something for you?
- Propositional pioneer: You’re energized by the blank floor. Discovery, framing, testing, scaling? The bigger the step, the bigger the pay-off.
- Trust technician: Pre-owned products don’t win hearts and minds just because they’re cheaper, so you make sure that instilling trust is at the heart of your proposition.
- Structural builder: You leave things better than you found them and make sure lessons are shared. The next Gar-age proposition will move faster because of that.
- Pixel perfectionist: You need full fidelity before anything is presented to a customer. MVPs are embarrassing shortfalls.
- Comfort zone cartographer: Established practices and predictable outcomes - that is what you want to sign up for.
- Stunning soloist: You deliver excellent design work independently. Once engineers, PMs, compliance, and opera-tions enter the picture, you’re out of here.
- 29 days: to recharge
- Travel costs: Public transport, car, parking & charging covered
- Pension plan: 75% premium covered
- Annual bonus: Based on sustainability goals
