Senior AWS Cloud Infrastructure/Systems Engineer

We are a software company delivering SaaS solutions to the Aerospace industry worldwide. We are seeking a highly experienced AWS Systems Engineer who can take ownership of our production and lower environments, ensuring they remain secure, scalable, resilient, and cost-effective.

This is a senior hands-on role suited to someone who can work independently, take technical ownership, and provide guidance on AWS best practices, security, automation, and operational excellence.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and evolving our cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, automation frameworks, security controls, and operational processes.

AWS Infrastructure & Operations Management

• Take ownership of Armac’s AWS based production and lower environments
• Develop and extend our AWS Cloud Infrastructure developed using IaC and ensure it delivers design consistency, efficiency and cost effectiveness across multiple environments.
• Work with development engineers to design best practice solutions related to our SaaS offering
• Maintain/Write technical documentation for all aspects of the AWS Infrastructure
• Maintain/Develop CI/CD - AWS CodePipeline/CodeBuild, AMI builds, deployment pipelines, and continuous patching .
• Automate provisioning and operational tasks using a combination of scripting languages - Python, Bash, and AWS CLI.
• Develop and ensure the effectiveness of our procedures with respect to high availability, restoration testing, disaster recovery, capacity planning, performance tuning, .
• Implement proactive monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes
• Respond to incidents and carry out root cause analysis to prevent future such incidents.
• Stay up-to-date with new features and services offered by AWS

Security & Compliance

• Support compliance initiatives and security audits. Armac is both SOC II & ISO-27001/2 certified, so familiarity with these frameworks is a definite advantage. 
• Ensure AWS security best practices and operational controls are in place and effective.
• Conduct infrastructure vulnerability assessments and track remediation of findings.
• Monitor and respond to security alerts and operational incidents
• Implement a continuous improvement process with respect to key policy documents & Controls
• Design and implement security controls to protect data and systems in the AWS cloud

Technology Environment

• AWS: CloudFormation, EC2, VPC, Route53, ELB, IAM, RDS - MariaDB, EFS, S3, CloudWatch/Trail, SSM, KMS, SNS/SQS, Code Commit, CodeBuild/Pipeline AWS Backup.
• Other: Ubuntu Linux, Python, Bash, Git, AWS CLI, IaC

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or equivalent combination of education and experience 
• Essential: 5+ years AWS infrastructure engineering; expert in AWS architecture, Infrastructure as Code, networking (VPC, routing, security, DNS, VPN), and CloudFormation. Strong Linux admin and scripting (Python/Bash). Experience managing production SaaS environments, infrastructure observability, AWS security, RDS/EFS, and troubleshooting.
• Desirable: Experience with design and management of applications across the areas of:
• Zero down-time upgrades
• Auto scaling applications that have cold start challenges
• Distributed applications
• Implementing and using metrics to make data driven decisions
• Systems that negate the need for people to log into servers
• Serverless container technologies
• Java Platforms (WildFly AS/Spring Boot)
• Exposure to AI Agentic architectures
• Ideally candidates would have 8+ years experience, but 5+ will fit our minimum criteria
