Location: Ghent (twice a week onsite)

Role Mission
As a Frontend Engineer, your mission is to design, build, and evolve solutions that solve real customer problems and support business outcomes.
Responsibilities:
1. Product-Focused Engineering
- Build, maintain, and evolve customer-facing web and cross-platform interfaces
- Translate product goals into intuitive, accessible user experiences
- Ensure solutions are:
- Maintainable and scalable
- Performant and secure
- Tested and observable in production
- Collaborate with engineers to integrate APIs and data flows
- Participate in discovery, experimentation, and iteration
- Contribute to mobile-first and multi-device experiences
2. Engineering Quality & Craftsmanship
Apply best practices in:
- Component design and reuse
- Testing and testability
- Performance, accessibility, and resilience
- Error handling and observability
- Take ownership of quality and improve it over time
- Contribute to shared standards and best practices
- Reduce technical debt through pragmatic refactoring
- Improve developer experience (tooling, clarity, onboarding)
- Make sound technical decisions aligned with team and organisation
3. Collaboration & Team Contribution
Work closely with:
- Product Managers (value and trade-offs)
- Designers (experience and usability)
- Engineers (end-to-end delivery)
- Participate in team rituals and feedback loops
- Share knowledge and support team learning
- Proactively unblock work and seek alignment
- Remain flexible beyond strict role boundaries
4. Continuous Learning, AI & Growth
- Continuously develop technical expertise
- Stay up to date with tools and practices
- Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to:
- Improve productivity
- Enhance code quality
- Accelerate learning
- Engage with career progression through feedback and impact growth
Requirements:
Core Frontend Stack
- Strong TypeScript and modern JavaScript (ES6+)
- Advanced React (hooks, composition, architecture)
- CSS-in-JS, theming, and design tokens
- Experience with large/shared codebases (monorepo a plus)
State Management & Async
- Redux Toolkit and RTK Query
- Handling asynchronous flows and side effects
- RxJS / redux-observable (nice to have)
Testing & UI Documentation
- Jest or Vitest with React Testing Library
- Writing resilient, maintainable tests
- Storybook for UI development and documentation
Tooling & Ways of Working
- CI pipelines and automated quality gates
- Conventional commits and structured code reviews
- Small, high-quality commits and merge requests
Engineering Principles
- Declarative, functional-first approach
- High readability and low cognitive load
- Immutability and modular design
- Strong separation of concerns
- Pragmatic performance optimisation
