Green Light is delivering a project for an industry-leading organisation and has a requirement for a Network Engineer to join our delivery team. This role is well suited to someone early in their career who is looking to grow their experience in network security and firewall technologies within a large and complex environment.


The position is primarily focused on firewall configuration, policy management and operational support, with exposure to enterprise-scale security environments and modern next-generation firewall platforms.


Working as part of a collaborative technical team, you will support a large-scale firewall migration and IPS deployment program leveraging Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewalls. You will gain hands-on experience across configuration, testing and deployment activities while being supported by senior engineers within the team.


Responsibilities:

  • Support firewall configuration activities including policy updates, NAT rules and basic VPN configuration
  • Assist with the deployment, staging and migration of firewalls from legacy platforms to Palo Alto environments
  • Perform day-to-day firewall administration and monitoring, ensuring security policies are correctly implemented
  • Work with senior engineers to support implementation and upgrade activities across network security platforms
  • Assist in troubleshooting basic network and security issues across firewall environments
  • Follow established processes and standards for changes, configurations and documentation
  • Support the maintenance of network and security infrastructure components in line with agreed service levels


Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of experience in a Network or Network Security Engineer/Administrator role
  • Basic hands-on exposure to firewalls (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA or similar)
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, including IP addressing, routing and switching
  • Familiarity with firewall concepts such as security policies, NAT and VPNs
  • Strong willingness to learn and develop skills in Palo Alto technologies
  • Good communication skills and ability to work within a team-based delivery environment
  • Basic understanding of network security concepts and best practices
