UX Designer – Product Strategy

🌰️ In a nutshell: A Senior Engineer II is a senior UX role focused on strategic UX product alignment and leadership. You lead UX for multiple initiatives and influence product strategy through user insights and design vision. You mentor less senior designers, drive design quality across teams, and partner with product and engineering leaders to align roadmaps and priorities while improving ways of working across the UX team. You contribute to cross-functional initiatives and help scale UX practices across the organization.

Product thinking

In depth understanding of your product team (roles, responsibilities) and how to interact with them. In depth understanding of the product goals and the features and how they impact the product roadmap. In depth understanding of the product's users. Participation and leading of user-related activities (research, user testing, etc). Participates and leads in new product discovery workshops and pre-sales initiatives with no guidance from senior members.

Process

You lead by example in process excellence, defining and refining workflows that improve quality, speed, and collaboration across the team or department. You independently create clarity from highly ambiguous requirements, turning uncertainty into clear constraints, scope, and measurable success metrics. You optimize design workflows, tooling, and handoffs to reduce friction and increase throughput, and you mentor others on process discipline and iteration best practices. Your influence shapes medium-term product strategy, and you help teams align on priorities and trade-offs that strengthen the product and meet business goals.

Communication

Excellent communication skills with all team members and stakeholders. Influence senior stakeholders (leadership, product, engineering, and business partners) through clear, compelling narratives and data-informed recommendations. Proactively identify and resolve complex communication gaps early—surfacing ambiguity, clarifying expectations, and escalating when necessary to keep delivery on track. Mentor less senior members in stakeholder management, helping them navigate roles, risks, and communication strategies to build stronger relationships and more predictable outcomes.

Collaboration

Technical skills Drive Collaborate across multiple teams and departments to align on complex problems and shared outcomes. Mentor others on feedback and collaboration best practices—helping peers give and receive feedback effectively and navigate ambiguity. Lead high-stakes cross-functional sprints and workshops, ensuring clear ownership, decision-making, and momentum. Proactively drive improvements to design culture and organizational processes—advocating for better ways of working, reducing friction, and scaling collaboration across the company.

Technical Skills

You have solid understanding of design patterns in your product, the human behaviours and technical constraints behind them. You have a solid understanding of design systems, how to use them and the technical constraints. You use an existing DS and can expand on it. You have the ability to create a new DS that can be shared with your team members. You work closely with engineering to implement design patterns into the DS and create the supporting documentation. You have the ability of creating prototypes for complex flows.

Drive

Your focus is on improving your technical skills and becoming the go-to person for understanding and correctly applying UX tools, methodologies and processes. Your are autonomous in organizing your workload and supporting other less senior members in organizing and prioritizing tasks You actively participate in your design team to improve ways of working, offer support or exchange ideas. You are a mentee to members in your UX team.
