We conduct fundamental and translational research in the field of Systems Biology and Biomedicine – in the lab, in the clinic and in silico. We focus on neurodegenerative processes and are especially interested in Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease and their contributing factors. The LCSB recruits talented scientists from various disciplines: computer scientists, mathematicians, biologists, chemists, engineers, physicists and clinicians from more than 50 countries currently work at the LCSB. Your role
The Doctoral Researcher will carry out a research project and write a doctoral thesis, the main goal being to obtain a doctorate. The DR may contribute to teaching activities and undertake other activities as laid out in the doctoral education agreement. For the project tasks, the DR reports directly to the Principle Investigator (PI) of the project.

Your role

Key Responsibilities:
- Define technical characteristics for scientific activity, and conduct research process from conception to implementation
- Construction of models, prototypes and equipment.
- Review and develop methodologies and new technologies
- Develop prototypes, experiments and techniques applying existing protocols
- Collect, assemble and evaluate research data
- Analyses and interpretation of results obtained
- Editing and sign-off on preliminary research reports
- Prepare and submit scientific material for peer review for publication under the supervision of the PI
- Development and refinement of analysis pipelines
- Development, maintenance and application of programming scripts for omics data analysis and creation of network and machine learning models
- Data integration support for analysis pipelines
Your profile
- Proficiency in at least one programming language for scientific computing: R, Python
- Operational language requirements: Fluency in English language is required
