Software Developers & Engineers – Remote Contract Opportunity

This role pays between $30-$90/hour.

Arc is sourcing candidates for a client opportunity focused on evaluating and improving next-generation AI systems through real-world software engineering expertise.

We're looking for experienced developers and engineers across a range of technology stacks who actively build software, solve technical problems, and have experience using modern AI-assisted development tools in their day-to-day workflows.

The work involves:

• Building, reviewing, and optimizing APIs and backend services

• Working with REST and GraphQL architectures

• Evaluating code quality, reliability, security, and maintainability

• Testing advanced AI-powered development tools in real-world engineering workflows

• Identifying bugs, unexpected behaviours, and performance issues

• Producing clear technical feedback, bug reports, screenshots, and observations

• Collaborating with research and engineering teams to improve model performance and developer experience

We're particularly interested in engineers who have hands-on experience using AI coding tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, Windsurf, or similar platforms as part of their development workflow.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience

• Strong expertise in at least one of the listed technology stacks

• Experience building and maintaining production applications, APIs, or services

• Understanding of security, validation, testing, error handling, and software quality principles

• Experience with databases, schema design, migrations, or performance optimization

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to provide structured technical feedback and detailed observations

Highly Valued Experience:

• Open-source contributions

• AI-assisted software development

• Developer tooling evaluation

• Experimental workflow testing

• Technical writing and documentation

• Full software development lifecycle experience

Prior AI experience is not required.

What matters most is strong engineering judgement, practical development experience, attention to detail, and the ability to clearly communicate how software and AI tools perform in real-world development environments.
