For our client, a leading international financial services provider specializing in investment fund administration and asset management solutions, we are currently looking for Candidates for the position of:

Senior SDN Network Engineer

Work mode: Remote

Compensation: 135 - 150 PLN/h net (+ VAT) (depending on your seniority level)

Contract type: B2B

Start Date: ASAP (Target: July 1, 2026)

Project: Initial contract until October 1, 2026, with a high possibility of extension for another 6–12 months

Project and Role Overview

In this role, you will be responsible for building, designing, and automating advanced software-defined networking layers for modern cloud infrastructure. The project focuses heavily on OpenStack development (Cinder/Nova/Neutron), Open vSwitch/OVN networking, and building infrastructure APIs using Golang. It’s a perfect opportunity for engineers who want to work on large-scale infrastructure and actively contribute to the global open-source community.

Responsibilities:

• Design and operate the software-defined networking layer for cloud infrastructure.
• Contribute to open-source projects, including Open vSwitch, OVN, OpenStack Neutron, and Linux Kernel.
• Design and develop networking APIs and cloud network platform products.
• Implement comprehensive observability, including metrics, distributed tracing, and structured logging for network services.
• Build automation for network operations and day-to-day operational workflows.
• Lead root cause analysis on complex network incidents and implement effective fixes.

Key Requirements:

• Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in a similar engineering role.
• Production experience with Open vSwitch (OVS) and OVN.
• Solid knowledge of cloud networking concepts: VPC, NAT, VPN, BGP, VXLAN, load balancing, DNS.
• Deep understanding of the Linux networking stack (namespaces, iptables, tc, kernel subsystems).
• Experience in integrating SDN solutions with OpenStack Neutron.
• Strong programming/scripting skills in C/C++, Go, Python, or Bash (Golang is highly valued for API building).
• Familiarity with Kubernetes networking and CNI plugins (e.g., Calico).
• Good command of English (min. B2).

Nice to have:

• Experience with DPDK.
• Familiarity with using AI tools to optimize your day-to-day development workflow.
