Space Systems Engineer - Contract
Are you a Space Systems Engineer ready for your next contract challenge?
We're working exclusively with a cutting-edge space technology company in Luxembourg on an exciting 6 month contract opportunity. This role carries a strong possibility of extending or transitioning into a permanent position as new programmes come online.
This is not your average systems engineering role. You'll be working on robotic systems destined for on-orbit servicing, lunar and Mars surface exploration, and solar array drive mechanisms. A genuine chance to put hardware into space.
What makes this role stand out:
- Up to €93.50 per hour
- 6 month months initially, with opportunity to extend
- A multicultural, highly skilled team at the forefront of space robotics
- Real ownership across the full V lifecycle - from requirements through to test and validation
The role itself
You'll sit within the Systems Engineering team, supporting two active programmes - one close to final testing and verification, one at the requirements definition stage. Your space systems background will be put to work immediately, ensuring nothing gets missed as hardware moves toward qualification and flight.
Day to day you'll be involved in:
- Requirements capture, validation, and traceability management
- Test plan development and verification oversight to ECSS standards
- System architecture, CONOPS, and technical trade-off analysis
- Risk identification and mitigation across the programme lifecycle
- Customer-facing technical liaison and comprehensive documentation
What you must have
- Direct space systems engineering experience
- Full V lifecycle experience (Phase A to E)
- ECSS standards familiarity
- Requirements management tool experience (Jama, DOORS, or equivalent)
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Aerospace Engineering
- 4+ years in space systems engineering
- Strong English, written and spoken
Nice to have
- Robotics or mechanisms knowledge (actuators, motion control)
- Jama, SolidWorks, or Altium experience
- Model-Based Systems Engineering / SysML
- Python or C/C++
Location: On-site in Luxembourg. The team is international and the client welcomes candidates willing to relocate or commute weekly - so don't be put off if you're not based locally.
